Tama-Toledo Chamber Car Show

The Tama-Toledo Chamber will be hosting its annual car show on Saturday, September 15, 2018 in downtown Tama, Iowa.  The show opens at 10:00 a.m. and judging begins at 12:00 p.m.  The awards ceremony will be at 3:00 p.m. with dash plaques for each entry and a trophy for the top 20.  For more information, call 641-484-6661 or email tama.toledochamber@gmail.com.

Meskwaki Powwow 2018

The Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa will be holding its 104th annual Meskwaki Powwow Thursday-Sunday, August 9-12, 2018 at the Meskwaki Settlement powwow site, which is 4 miles west of Tama, Iowa.  Grand entry on each day is at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.  Thursday is children’s day, Friday is senior’s day, and Saturday is veteran’s day with special pricing for those individuals.  During the 4-day affair, the gathered Indians celebrate and perform, in full-dress regalia, dances that have been handed down for generations.  For more details, go to http://www.meskwakipowwow.com.

 

Lincoln Highway Bridge Festival 2018

The Lincoln Highway Bridge Festival will be Friday and Saturday, May 18, 2018 and May 19, 2018 in downtown Tama, Iowa.  The carnival will be in town both days and the family food court will be across from city hall.

Friday’s activities include an ice cream social, wine and cheese tasting, the Tama Citizen of the Year presentation, performances by the Tri-County Community Band, the Harding Street Singers, the STC Middle School Jazz Band and the STC High School Jazz Band.  There will be a street dance as well featuring Hold for Swank and Monkey Finger.

Saturday’s activities include the firefighters’ pancake breakfast, a Bloody Mary bar, a 5k run, parade @10am, and a bean bag tournament.  Gail’s Academy of Dance will be performing along with Sheltered Reality and My Fellow Americans.  The Grout Museum will present “Creepy Crawlies”.  Kids activities include a balloon artist, a caricature artist, water fights and a nickel scramble.

Haunted Hayrack Ride 2017

Join the City of Tama, Iowa for a free haunted hayrack ride around Cherry Lake on Saturday, October 21, 2017.  The first ride starts at 7:00 p.m.  There will be a chili supper (free will offering) at 5:00 p.m. provided by the Tama County Humane Society.  Also, kids ages 0-12 can come to the Trick or Treat Trail inside the Tama Civic Center between 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., sponsored by the Tama-Toledo Area Chamber of Commerce.  Bring the whole family – this all happens at the Tama Civic Center, 305 Siegel Street, Tama, Iowa.  For more details, go to their Facebook page: “Tama-Toledo Chamber”.

All-You-Can-Eat Nut Fry

The Tama-Toledo Eagles Club is having an all-you-can-eat nut fry on Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  It will be at the Eagles Club located at 112 E. 3rd Street, Tama, Iowa.  They will also be serving ham ball dinners and chicken tenders dinners.

Also, starting October 4, the Tama-Toledo Eagles will be serving soup & sandwiches at the Eagles Club from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and continuing every Wednesday.  For more information, call 641-484-4580.

Tama-Toledo Car Show 2017

The Tama-Toledo Chamber will be hosting a car show in downtown Tama, Iowa on Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Registration will be at the Tama Civic Center.  The car show opens at 10:00 a.m. with the judging beginning at 12:00 p.m.  The awards ceremony will be at 3:00 p.m.  There will be trophies for the top 20 and $400 for the best of show.  For more information, check out their Facebook page at “Tama-Toledo Chamber Car Show”.

Meskwaki Pow Wow 2017

The 103rd annual Meskwaki Pow Wow will be August 10-13, 2017, in rural Tama, Iowa.  Grand entry is at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. each day, with Thursday being children’s day, Friday is seniors’ day, and Saturday is veterans’ day.  The Powwow site, historically known as the “Old Battleground” is 4 miles west of Tama on Highway E49, along the eastern bank of the Iowa River near the original 80 acres of the Meskwaki Settlement.

While you’re in the area, stop by Traer in northern Tama County for its Winding Stairs Festival.

Tama-Toledo Fireworks 2017

Tama and Toledo, Iowa will be having a fireworks display on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at Toledo Heights Park at dusk.
