Gladbrook Corn Carnival 2019

.

Gladbrook, Iowa will be hosting its annual Corn Carnival Thursday, June 20, 2018 through Sunday, June 23, 2019.  Open daily will be Matchstick Marvels, the Gladbrook Museum, merchants exhibits, food stands (with sweet corn!), beer garden, midway rides & music and entertainment on Main Street.

Thursday’s events include the collectors’ fair, Little Miss & Mr. Corn Carnival and Corn Cob Queen crowning, kiddie parade, bingo, and live music featuring Country Classic Four.

Friday’s events include a display to remember our fallen heroes, a movie at the Gladbrook Theatre, the Hovick Petting Zoo, grand parade at 6:30 p.m. and live music featuring Vinyl Frontier.

Saturday’s events include Breakfast on Main, a 5k run/walk, tractor ride, sand volleyball, cribbage & pepper tournaments, a waterball contest, golf cart rodeo, a movie at the Gladbrook Theatre, classic car cruise, talent show, and fireworks at 10pm.

Sunday closes out the carnival with a community church service and omelet breakfast.

Pancake Breakfasts

If you’re hankering for some pancakes after the O.W.L.S. program about maple syruping at the Otter Creek Nature Center in Toledo on Valentines Day, we’ve got a couple of opportunities in Tama County to satisfy your appetite.

The Gladbrook Legion will be hosting a pancake breakfast at the Memorial Building, at 421 Johnston Street in Gladbrook, Iowa, on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 7:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  They will be serving pancakes, biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage, and French toast.  All proceeds will go to student scholarships.

Also on February 18, Clutier will be hosting a pancake breakfast at the American Legion, 281 – 4th Street, Clutier, Iowa.  They will be serving pancakes, eggs, sausage, milk, juice, and coffee.  It is a free will offering.

2017 Gladbrook Corn Carnival

The 95th Annual Gladbrook Corn Carnival will be June 22-25, 2017.  Daily events include midway rides & games, quilt raffle, sweet corn, food stand, beer garden; & free music & entertainment on Main.  Matchstick Marvels will be open daily as well so check out the Millennium Falcon while it’s still in Gladbrook.  The collectors’ fair will be on Thursday at the Memorial building and the Kiddies parade will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.  Grand parade is Friday at 6:30 p.m. and will include ISU’s solar vehicle and college mascots Cy, Herky, and TC.  A petting zoo will be open 4-9pm Friday.  Saturday’s entertainment includes breakfast, a tractor ride, 5k run/walk, sand volleyball, cribbage, kids activities, bean bag tournament, classic car cruise, and fireworks.  There will be a community church service and omelet breakfast on Sunday.  For more information, go to http://www.gladbrookcorncarnival.org.

2017 Tama County Fair

The 2017 Tama County Fair will be held Tuesday, July 18 through Sunday, July 23 at the Tama County Fairgrounds, 1217 – 175th Street, Gladbrook, Iowa.   Tama County youth from 4-H club organizations and FFA chapters will display exhibits and show animals.  ISU Extension -Tama County is sponsoring two new projects this year: a cookie challenge and a cucumber critter challenge.  The cookies should be made from a recipe provided by the extension office; and the cucumber critter should be decorated and be able to stand on its own.  Both projects are open to anyone in Tama County, any age.  The Tama County Fairboard is sponsoring a “repurposed from my home” challenge which dares participants to take any old item and create a functional decoration – all items will be auctioned off during the fair.  Call 641-484-2703, or visit http://www.extension.iastate.edu/tama for more details.

Tama County Fair

It’s all about the kids at the Tama County Fair.  In addition to the wide array of 4-H livestock shows and exhibits are a fashion show, bucket of junk contest, BBQ-grill cook-off contest, and fair dance.
