Hunters’ Harvest Breakfast

The Christ United Methodist Church will be having their annual Hunters’ Harvest Breakfast on Saturday, October 27, 2018, from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at 301 S. Broadway, Toledo, Iowa.  The menu includes scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, biscuits & gravy, jelly, juice and coffee.  Tickets are $8.  For more information, call the church office at 641-484-3564.

The Doo Wops are coming to Dysart!

The Doo Wops are coming to Dysart, Iowa on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  They will be performing your favorite 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s music at the Dysart Park Gazebo.  It’s sponsored by the Dysart Historical Society which is taking free will donations.  Soft drinks and water are available.  Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the afternoon in Dysart!

Tama-Toledo Chamber Car Show

Taste of Dysart 2018

Dysart, Iowa will be hosting its annual Taste of Dysart – Wine Tasting on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Come to Main Street and see your favorite stores turned into speakeasies!  Come in costume to enter the grand prize drawings.  Prohibition cocktails at designated destinations.  For more information, follow Downtown Dysart on Facebook.

Traer Winding Stairs Festival 2018

Traer, Iowa is hosting its annual Winding Stairs Festival August 10-12, 2018 with free live bands, great food and refreshments, kids inflatables, games, and activities.

Friday’s lineup includes Mollie B and the Jim Busta Band with Karl, Farm Rock, free kolaches @7pm while they last (but they won’t last long), and free TMU bucket rides.

Saturday’s events include a 5k run/walk, first annual Mike Pargeon Smokeoff (meat smoking must be on site), co-ed slow pitch softball, free pancake breakfast @8am, 32-team corn hole competition, a family friendly movie, game liner, mechanical bull, grand parade @5pm, dueling pianos featuring Andy Anderson and Mike Leeds, and a live performance by Standing Hampton.

On Sunday, the Co-ed softball tournament will finish up, the North Tama Booster Club will have a golf tournament, and the Traer Chamber of Commerce will host a “Shine and Show” car show with judging at 1pm and awards at 2pm.

Tama County Fair 2018

The 2018 Tama County Fair will be in Gladbrook, Iowa, Monday, July 16, 2018 through Sunday, July 22, 2018.

Tama County youth from 4-H club organizations and FFA chapters will display exhibits & animals daily.  The challenge event this year is “Recycle, Rescue, Restore or Reuse”.  Events include kids’ crafts each day, fair queen selection on Tuesday, fashion show on Wednesday, watermelon feed & Pee Wee Wranglers on Friday, and Fun Night on Saturday.  For more details, go to http://www.extension.iastate.edu/tama.

Chelsea Car Show 2018

Chelsea, Iowa will be hosting its 8th Annual Chelsea Car Show on Saturday, July 28, 2018 (rain or shine).  Dash plaques will be given to the first 400 entries and awards to the top 75 (voting by registered participants), plus 25 judged awards.  Registration is from 8-11am; participant voting from 11am-1pm; and award presentation at 2pm.  For more information, go to “Chelsea Car Show’ on Facebook.

Meskwaki Powwow 2018

The Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa will be holding its 104th annual Meskwaki Powwow Thursday-Sunday, August 9-12, 2018 at the Meskwaki Settlement powwow site, which is 4 miles west of Tama, Iowa.  Grand entry on each day is at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.  Thursday is children’s day, Friday is senior’s day, and Saturday is veteran’s day with special pricing for those individuals.  During the 4-day affair, the gathered Indians celebrate and perform, in full-dress regalia, dances that have been handed down for generations.  For more details, go to http://www.meskwakipowwow.com.

 

Dysart 4th of July 2018

Dysart, Iowa has lots of activities planned for the 4th of July in 2018.  Attractions include inflatable golf & slide, rock climbing wall, pop-a-shot, toddler zone, face painting, & raffle items; and lots of treats including mini donuts, funnel cakes, cotton candy, slushies, Chinese food, turkey legs, brats, and fried pickles.

Events on Tuesday, July 3 include a slow pitch softball tournament, kiddie parade, and firemen’s dance featuring Guilty Pleasure.  The beer garden will be open and the Lions Club will be serving tenderloins, rootbeer floats & ice cream.

Events on Wednesday, July 4 start with a 5k run/walk, grand parade, pork chop dinner, kiddie tractor pull, bingo, free throw contest, cow chip bingo, talent show, and fireworks at dusk.  Club Dysart will be serving a pork chop dinner, brats & turkey legs.  DJ with a Beat will be on from 12:30 to 4:30.

Clutier Czech Day 2018

Clutier, Iowa will be having its Clutier Czech Day on Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.  A Czech bakery will be set up early on Main Street featuring kolaches and other delicious snacks.  The Tama County Pork Producers will be serving from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. along with other food vendors.  The Clutier Firemen will be having their annual hog roast in the evening.

A 5k run/walk will start the morning off and there will be a flea market all day at the ZCBJ Hall.  The veteran, kiddie, and grand parade will all happen before lunch.  Dave’s Little Big Band will be performing after lunch and Wikid Liker will perform in the evening.  There will also be a kids tractor pull, library auction, and bike give-away.  A street cruise will round out the day.
