The annual Meskwaki Powwow will be this Thursday through Sunday, August 6, 2015 through August 9, 2015, at the powwow site, which is 4 miles west of Tama, Iowa on Highway E49 and located along the east bank of the Iowa River.  Performances will be at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. each day.  During the four-day affair, the gathered Indians celebrate and perform, in full-dress regalia, dances that have been handed down for generations.  General admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12; children age 5 and under get in free.  Thursday is children’s day, Friday is senior citizen’s day, and Saturday is veteran’s day.  For more information, go to http://www.meskwakipowwow.com.   (Photo courtesy Meskwaki Historic Preservation Department)
